Sierra became determined to hike the 2,665 mile Pacific Crest Trail in 2010. That summer Sierra hiked the 217 mile John Muir Trail, climbing Half Dome, celebrating her 7th birthday in Evolution Valley, and climbing Mount Whitney (elevation 14,496 feet) along the way. Sierra met many PCT hikers on her hike and, by the end, became determined to hike the PCT herself. She was thoughtful enough to invite her mom Heather aka "Mama Bear", a second grade teacher, along for the hike!
On September 23, 2012, we accomplished what we set out to do. At the age of 9, Sierra aka "Monkey" became the youngest person on record to successfully thru-hike the 2,665 mile Pacific Crest Trail or PCT. But the adventures didn't stop there. Read on as we tackle the Colorado Trail, the Continental Divide Trail, and continue to share our adventures in the wilderness.
